WARNING! InvaderCON now risks hitting capacity (selling out!)

First off: thank you.  When we planned InvaderCON over a year ago, we knew that we’d have a small successful convention of dedicated fans celebrating a show that many of the Green Mustard Entertainment are bona fide geeks for: Invader ZIM.

It hasn’t been until the last couple of months, though, that we’ve seen response to our “little convention that could” begin to exceed what we were expecting.  We’ve been dealing with the challenges brought about by this, though, to the best of our abilities and resources.  Here’s what  you need to know:

  • A couple of months ago (when ticket sales REALLY took off) we added additional convention space for the weekend.
  • Sales have not ebbed, and we’re still selling tickets every day.
  • Green Mustard Entertainment is a “for profit” company, but we’re not in this to “make a quick buck.”  We’re fans who enjoy a quality convention experience… and we’d rather have a comfortable environment for attendees rather than a sweaty mass of elbow to elbow walkways.

As of this writing, we are at 36% capacity based on ticket sales.  Conventions like this one usually run at a 1 in 4 ratio – meaning 1 of every 4 attendees pre-registers and 3 of every 4 buy tickets at the door.  Based on that ration, we’re projected to hit 144% of capacity which can’t happen.

SO – we are officially putting out this WARNING.  Based on our current projections, InvaderCON will sell out at the door.  If you have not bought your ticket in advance you do risk being turned away at the door.

We understand that this may pose a challenge for some attendees, but we want to be UP FRONT with everyone rather than have you find out at the door.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter – and see you next week!

(NOTE: Presales for InvaderCON end this Saturday at 10:00 PM)

This is awesome news for you guys! I’ve got someone who may want to come, but if you sell out in the pre-order phase I’ll have to let her know. I know you’re tired of hearing this, but…..-whispers- maybe it’s a sign that there should be a second InvaderCon ;) [/wishful thinking]

@Michelle: We’d rather have one REALLY GREAT event than a bunch of kinda okay ones… this will be the only InvaderCON.

  4. This is awesome news! I’m glad that there’s going to be such a huge turnout!

…now, exactly HOW many tickets have you guys sold? o_____o

  5. My tallest, what if it were every five years, then it could still be great and rare and stuff and I’d be able to come xP I can’t but wanna and rents say I shouldn’t “waste” my money on absentee package.

wait wait wait… for months i have been waiting and waiting to go to this con and was expecting to be able to buy a day-of ticket. now you are pretty much threatening long lines like a star wars movie release & probably be turned away? seriously? some of us are umemployed & cannot shell out the $$$ for a weekend pass. i don’t understand how you cannot know that people love this show and plan accordingly.
i need the gir. i need him or i will explode. that happens to me sometimes.

It’s great that you put out this warning, otherwise my whole month would’ve been ruined if I got so close, but didn’t make it. If this were to happen, I would have most likely been turned away.

    @Nathan

I agree. Every five years would be better than just one. :>

@Heather: I speak only for myself from my own experiences at several conventions throughout the years; I don’t claim to speak for InvaderCon or anyone else. Conventions and businesses don’t work like that. They don’t hold tickets for those who may or may not show up at the door. If you can’t afford it, sorry, but that’s life. This has been made public for well over a year now. Sorry to say, but your unemployment or lack of funds is not the concern of anyone but yourself. Sometimes events sell out in the pre-order. That’s how it works: first come, first served. I’m sorry if you can’t make it, but please don’t lay blame on anyone. I just wanted to speak up as comments like yours make me headdesk beyond belief.
